Larimer County Community Corrections is looking for a skilled Correctional Addictions Therapist to join our dynamic team of professionals. The Correctional Addictions Therapist will be tasked to perform professional and technical counseling/therapy and/or case management related work in the implementation of a residential and outpatient addictions, mental health and criminogenic treatment programming.

 

Illustrative tasks in this role include:

  • Working as a member of the treatment team providing individual treatment sessions (based on your qualifications) to participants in the Short Term Intensive Residential Remedial Treatment (STIRRT), Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT), and Aftercare programs.
  • Facilitating a variety of substance abuse, cognitive restructuring, mental health (if you are so qualified) and life skills groups.
  • Conducting Substance Abuse Evaluations.
  • Screening of referrals for prospective participants in our programs.
  • Case management activities for clients on your caseload.
  • Maintaining accurate client files.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years experience providing substance abuse treatment in an adult correctional setting, adult or youth residential treatment program, community diversion program, or a related area.
  • Experience with co-occurring treatment.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Human Development, Criminal Justice, or related field.
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred.
  • All required and elective CAC coursework and clinical experience for CAC II. Master’s degree in related field and experience providing substance use treatment services may substitute for CAC.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Certified Addiction Counselor III (CACIII) or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) preferred.
  • License or certification in a recognized mental health field (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW or Psychologist) along with CAC preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Adult and Child CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications by date of hire.

Other Information to Note: 

  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
  • This position is "Open until filled" and may close at any time.  Once we begin the interview process, we may not consider additional applicants unless a candidate is not hired from the interview pool.
  • This posting is to create an Eligibility List to be used to fill future vacancies. Vacancies may require a CACII, CACIII or LAC Certification.  
  • Starting pay for the minimum requirements (Bachelor's with CAC II or Master's with no CAC) is $22.83/hour.  Pay may be higher for additional education or certification beyond the minimum requirements.
  • The successful candidate for this position must be available to work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays to meet program needs.
  • May be subject to on-call/mandatory overtime.
