Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is seeking a skilled and talented individual to join our team as an Long-Term Seasonal Maintenance Technician.  We are looking for a knowledgeable and friendly person to assist with our mission.

 

Over view

This position is responsible for building, grounds and reservoir maintenance programs of Natural Resource Department of Larimer County. This includes aspects of maintenance, landscaping and repair of all buildings, campgrounds, facilities, boat docks, buoy’s and other related facilities. Supervises seasonal workers engaged in grounds, facilities maintenance, landscaping and construction projects. Supervision of volunteers and other outside groups in any or all the same duties. Positions in this class are assigned a full range of duties and expected to carry out the more complex or technically advanced assignments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises seasonal employees and volunteers.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles, boats, boat docks, water facilities, equipment, restrooms, visitor services buildings and other related facilities as needed.
  • Plan and schedule work assignments for crews. Ensuring equipment and supplies are available, including proper safety equipment.
  • Maintain related records and reports.
  • Inspect and perform complex maintenance tasks involving mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, welding and other general construction tasks.
  • Assist in fabricating and/or constructing park facilities which may include boat docks, buoys, park shelters, picnic tables, park signage, fire grates, campsites, parking areas, small buildings, remodeling, utility lines, facilities and other similar projects.
  • Operate and train other employees on the use of a variety of heavy and light equipment including, but not limited to, mowers, chainsaws, tractors, backhoes, boats, dump trucks and trash trucks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Possession of a Colorado Driver License and the ability to obtain a Colorado Class “B”::Must NOT have the following restrictions: "E" (No Manual Transmission) Restriction
  • Able to drive a standard transmission vehicle.
  • Prior experience in the trades required.
  • Prior experience operating related equipment required. (Boats, mowers, trucks, both heavy and light equipment)
  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand / kneel and walk for long periods of time over all forms of terrain.
  • Push, pull and lift heavy objects.
  • Work out doors in all type of weather conditions and/or under varying degrees of stress for extended periods.
  • Fine and gross “motor skill”.
  • Ability to swim.
