The Department Specialist I with the Criminal Justice Services Division performs administrative work in support of the the Alternative Sentencing Department or Community Corrections Department.  A successful applicant in this hiring process may be working in the Work Release, Community Service, or Pretrial Unit of the Alternative Sentencing Department - or in the Administrative or Treatment Units at the Community Corrections Department.  Job duties differ based on the location of a vacency, but could include: 

 

  • Perform customer service duties for the department on a regular basis; interpret County/departmental polices, rules, and regulations in response to inquiries; conduct necessary research; route inquiries appropriately for more complex matters and interpretation issues.
  • Determine appropriate placements for offenders completing Court Ordered Useful Public Service (UPS)
  • Process documentation from offenders completing UPS and communicate offender progress to supervising agencies (Court, Probation, District Attorney, etc.)
  • Document the movement of offenders under our supervision in the community
  • Provide reminder calls to offenders for upcoming court dates
  • Create orientation packets and or prepare materials for treatment goup
  • Create and maintain program files
  • Data Entry
  • Provide general administrative support for the program or department
  • Receives immediate supervision from management, professional, or administrative supervisor.
  • Exercises no supervision.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED, required, supplemented by additional secretarial or office administration coursework.
  • Two years of experience in a directly related clerical or secretarial field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.

This is a divisional posting for the Department Specialist I job title, with one vacancy and eligibility list.  The eligibility list will be used as positions within the Larimer County Community Corrections Department and the Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department become available. 

 

May be subject to on-call/mandatory overtime.

 

Assessment testing will be administered.
