Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is seeking a skilled and talented individual to join our team as a Natural Resources & Outreach Technician. 

 

Specifically this position:

  • Conducts and supports vegetation and wildlife monitoring as well as restoration maintenance efforts on open space properties
  • Schedules and attends Conservation Easement monitoring site visits, coordinates with landowners, writes reports
  • Assists with volunteer events through planning, outreach, and in-field supervision of volunteers
  • Coordinates and supports project preparation
  • Provides general office support

Larimer County is located in north central Colorado.  It is the 6th largest county in Colorado based on population.  The county extends to the Continental Divide and includes several mountain communities and Rocky Mountain National Park.  Larimer County encompasses 2,640 square miles that include some of the finest irrigated farmland in the state, as well as vast stretches of scenic ranch lands, forest and high mountain peaks.  Over 50% of Larimer County is publicly owned, most of which is land within Roosevelt National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park.  In addition to these federal lands, Colorado State Parks and Recreation and Larimer County Parks and Open Spaces combine to provide a wide spectrum of recreational opportunities that are enjoyed by both residents and visitors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Six months to one year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties with experience working with volunteers, land owners, contacting the public, customer service or the like
  • Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited institution with coursework in Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Restoration Ecology, Environmental Education/Interpretation, or other related field preferred
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certifications within six months of date of hire
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain by starting date, a valid Driver's License

 Other Items to Note:

  • This is a temporary position, expected to last up to 6 months from May - October.
  • This position is anticipated to be scheduled 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend and holiday hours will be required.  
  • Work schedules are subject to change depending on weather and visitation.
  • This position is based at the Natural Resources Administrative Offices at 1800 S. County Rd 31, Loveland, CO.
  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background test. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
