    The Larimer County Community Development Department is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced individual to join our team as a Zoning Specialist.  The ideal candidate will be able to review building permit applications to determine compliance with zoning regulations and have strong communication skills to answer questions and resolve issues for customers.  This person will also perform extensive research to determine if property is in zoning compliance.

     

    Specifically the Zoning Specialist:

     

    • Is responsible for reviewing building permit applications to determine compliance with zoning regulations.
    • Makes basic interpretations of applicable codes when reviewing permits/performing zoning investigations and consults with others when neccessary.
    • Performs extensive research to determine zoning compliance.
    • Prepares determinations such as legal lot letters and accepts registration certificates from the public.
    • Respond to technical questions and provide information to the public; communicate procedures and regulations.

    Qualifications:

     

    • Three (3) years’ general office experience, including experience in research, processing applications and scheduling, coordinating and organizing projects; experience working with land use/zoning code, legal descriptions, plat maps, and development applications is preferred.
    • High School diploma or GED supplemented by coursework in general clerical and computer functions is required. Completion of relevant coursework related to land use/zoning code is preferred.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver’s License.
