    Larimer County Human Resources department offers engaging opportunities for development in the evolving Human Resources field.  Increasingly aware of the need to attract and retain the best people for our workforce, we are seeking a skilled Benefits Team Lead to join our fun, innovative, flexible and dynamic team of HR professionals.


    Larimer County Human Resources supports over thirty departments within County government from the Sheriff’s Office, to the Department of Health, to Natural Resources.  We provide Human Resources professionals the opportunity to experience a diverse employee population, creating an atmosphere of innovation, customer orientation and collaboration.


    The Benefits Team Lead coordinates and leads functions of the County’s various employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plans, leave programs, wellness program, and other voluntary benefits.  Assists in a variety of support services including gathering and evaluating statistical information, acting as a primary point of contact and liaison for employees within the department and our external vendors and coordinating special events and activities.  Reports directly to the Benefits Manager.



    Essential Functions:

    • Exercises direct supervision over professional and administrative staff.
    • Serves in a lead supporting role to the Benefits Manager.
    • Coordinates benefit activities with other departments countywide, such as screening events, workshops and presentations.
    • Prepares and provides benefit information, including new hire benefit orientation and ongoing education, for existing employees.
    • Coordinates and conducts annual open enrollment meetings.  Assists with the preparation of materials and development of employee communications, such as digital, print, and video.
    • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the County Wellness Program, including assisting employees and managing vendor partners.
    • Leads and coordinates the internal wellness committee.
    • Reviews and assists with payroll adjustments.
    • Acts as a primary liaison to the County benefit broker and vendors, and coordinate resolution of heightened issues.
    • Performs periodic audits of programs and benefits participation.
    • Assists the benefits team in answering questions, fielding phone calls, processing paperwork and addressing escalated issues.

    • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible technical experience, including one (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity, in payroll, employee benefits, or the insurance field, which includes computerized applications.
    • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in human resources management, business administration, insurance, accounting, public administration, or related field.
    • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
