    Performs work in the Pretrial Services program supporting adult offenders in Larimer County. This is an entry-level position offering the opportunity to gain understanding of judicial services, programs and policies;  knowledge of court and sentencing processes; understanding of the workings of a correctional environment; understanding of criminal behaviors; and methods of conflict resolution.

    Successful candidates can expect to begin their work with Pretrial Services working in the Intake Unit housed in the booking area at the Larimer County Jail.  The intake unit is staffed 24/7.

     

    Responsibilities for this position are as follows:

    • Interviews each arrestee.
    • Conducts criminal history investigations.
    • Verifies information on the bond application. 
    • Uses the information gathered in these investigations and criteria set forth in Colorado Statues and Administrative Orders.
    • Makes recommendations to the court regarding bond conditions and type in order to help reduce risk for the individual’s potential return to the community.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
    • Two years of experience in a directly related field with similar job duties, preferred.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, crisis intervention training.
    • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
