    The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is seeking talented men and women interested in law enforcement to join our team as part time, temporary Jail Cadets.   

      

    A Jail Cadet with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office is a civilian position.

     

    This position will be located at the Larimer County Jail

    Candidate must be available for  two days of new-hire orientation and five days of training.  

     

    Specifically, this position:

    • Effectively and coherently uses interpersonal communication skills to communicate with inmates, professional visitors, and the public by providing information and directions.
    • Uses radio, intercom, and telephone communications systems to communicate effectively and coherently with office personnel and inmates and use of other office communications systems as necessary.
    • Escorts inmates and visitors throughout the facility.
    • Conducts visual and audio surveillance of inmates for extended periods of time.
    • Prepares a variety of reports using appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Process reports as appropriate (i.e. files, alphabetizes, labels, etc.).

    Qualifications:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older
    • Must be a high school graduate or possess a valid G.E.D. certificate
    • No felony convictions
    • No misdemeanors involving domestic violence
    • No illegal drug use within the last five years
    • No marijuana, medical or recreational, use within the last two years
    • Cannot have a dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces
    • Cannot be the subject of an active restraining order

    Other Information to Note: 

    • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.

    • Successful applicants will be required to meet all of the following qualifications prior to hire:

      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
      • Pass written examination
      • Pass integrity questionnaire and oral board interview
      • Pass an in-depth background investigation including criminal history and financial status
      • Pass polygraph examination
      • Pass psychological evaluation and medical examination, including drug testing
      • Cannot have a felony conviction
      • No convictions involving Domestic Violence
      • No use of illegal drugs within the past five years
