    Description:

    As part of the Work-Based Learning Team, this position works directly with job seeking customers and employers to identify internship opportunities that provide a mutually beneficial experience for both the intern and employer. The purpose of the internship program is to assist customers in obtaining skills and experiences that lead to gaining and retaining meaningful employment. This position will conduct community outreach to understand the needs of employers and to develop internship positions in accordance with identified needs. A key role of this position is to build and maintain effective relationships with interns, LCEWD case managers, co-workers, and employers. This position will follow-up regularly with interns and employers to ensure the internship experience remains positive and progressive as well as problem-solve issues that arise during the internship. Additionally, this position will provide employment retention support to customers who have gained long-term employment.  Internship Coordinators are required to have data documentation skills, the ability to coach and support interns in achieving their goals, excellent customer service and communication skills, listening skills, problem-solving, teamwork, and experience working with diverse populations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support customers in setting and achieving employment related goals.
    • Create and maintain effective professional relationships with customers, businesses, community partners, co-workers and other key stakeholders.
    • Assist customers in identifying resources and services that best meet their needs.
    • Work closely with the employers to develop internship positions that meet their workforce needs.
    • Match customers with internship position that advance their employment goals.
    • Provide customers with crisis-based assistance and make referrals to appropriate community resources.
    • Utilize labor market information to assist customers in setting data-informed employment goals.
    • Prepare and manage participant files and maintain appropriate information; document customer program related activities; enter data into computerized tracking system in a timely basis.
    • Maintains appropriate customer log notes in a timely and on-going basis.
    • Explain and interpret program guidelines and expectation.
    • Assist in conducting employment related workshops.
    • Assist customers with resume writing, interviewing preparation, and job search activities.
    • Maintain sensitive and confidential information.
    • Provide public presentations and community informational sessions.
    • When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
    • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
    • Effectively perform work responsibilities independently and as part od a team.
    • Experience case managing customers that may face challenges to successfully obtaining and retaining employment.
    • Experience helping customers set and achieve meaningful goals.
    • Knowledge of principles, practices, and objectives as related to employment and training programs.
    • Proven ability to effectively and consistently document and track customer activities in a computerized tracking system.
    • Skilled in team-based problem solving.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Understand principles of customer/counselor confidentiality.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Experience working with adults or youth in a directly related field, particularly in employment-related services or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.
    • Education in a related field.
    • Proven ability to effectively use routine software, including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
    • Proven ability to balance the requirements of reporting/documenting activities and data entry with the ability to provide meaningful and effective case management.
