    Larimer County Department of Health and Environment is looking for an experienced WIC Nutrition Program Supervisor. The position requires a hard-working professional who is ambitious to take on the broader and more dynamic goals of the Department.

We value and respect employee participation in the delivery of quality services.  The WIC Nutrition Supervisor will provide support, leadership, supervision, professional and technical expertise by directing day-to-day clinical and program management operations in the Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park clinics. The Supervisor will serve on community committees and sit on work groups to enhance collaborative relationships with partners.

    Details

    In this role, you could expect to:

    • Administer, supervise, and coordinate a public health nutrition program.
    • Provide direct, first-level supervision of positions, employees, operations, and activities within the WIC/Nutrition program.  This could include coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, making recommendations impacting pay, status, and disciplinary action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager, and approving time off.
    • Assist in developing and managing the budget. Reviewing and approving expenditures.
    • Evaluate program services including monitoring program caseloads for budget impact.
    • Maintain data collection systems and interpret program statistics.
    • Prepare reports for local and state health departments.
    • Participate in monitoring the nutrition program for compliance with state and federal requirements.
    • Initiate and direct development and reviews of nutrition education materials.
    • Act as a liaison to the public, community, and other health and human services departments and agencies regarding WIC/Nutrition services, policies, and related issues.
    • Promote community awareness of program through supervising and conducting presentations to boards, agencies, and organizations.
    • Participate in various committees and boards related to program activities and responsibilities.

    Additionally, the candidate selected for this position will supervise two other smaller programs within Community Health Services: Baby and Me Tobacco Free and Breast Feeding Peer Counselor programs.

    Qualifications

    • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the nutrition field, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities, including one (1) year of supervisory experience required.
    • Equivalent to a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health, or a related field required.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.
    • Must be a registered dietitian (RD) through Commission on Dietetic Registration and maintain registration status by completing the required American Dietetic Association CPEUs (Continuing Education units) for each applicable five (5)year reporting period required.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.

     

    An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
