  • Overview

    The Behavioral Health Services department was formed in January 2019, and the Communication and Media Specialist will be joining a small team of five employees. The Behavioral Health Services department is responsible for developing a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health services around Larimer County.


    The Communication and Media Specialist will be responsible for creativity, strategic content management, public relations, and information packaging for public consumption. As a BHS team member this position will have the unique opportunity to work with other county communications staff, to increase public awareness around behavioral health issues and truly spotlight behavioral health as a priority focus for the Board of County Commissioners.


    This position is subject to a final budget approval from the Board of County Commissioners and has an expected start date of January 2, 2020.


    Some of the essential functions of this position include:

    • Directly responsible for all Behavioral Health communications activities, including newsletters, regular reports, public relations, community engagement, press releases and other communication tools.
    • Manages Behavioral Health Services social media content; helps define target audiences and works to develop a social content strategy and plan. Encourages the adoption of relevant social media techniques into the Department culture.
    • Maintains website and content management for Behavioral Health Services website.
    • Develops and oversees the creation of all department media - Videos, brochures, annual reports, calendars, banners, stickers, website, web applications, social media and other materials
    • Creates and implements department-wide design standards for media including specifications of media for consistency.
    • Builds community relations with presentations on behalf of the Department.
    • Establishes and maintains county/department communication and design standards.
    • Assists department staff with special projects or programs.
    • Develops, curates and edits content related to information and events relative to identified target audiences.
    • Develops and coordinates a content management strategy for department communications.
    • Builds and executes a communications calendar.
