  • Overview

    The Part-Time Department Specialist I with Criminal Justice Services performs administrative work in support of both the Alternative Sentencing and Community Corrections Departments.  A successful applicant in this hiring process will be working primarily in the Business Operations unit of Criminal Justice Services.  Job duties include: 


    • Perform customer service duties; process inquiries for criminal justice and treatment records in person, and via phone calls/emails.
    • Receive requests for information/records from outside entities; interpret County/department polices, as well as applicable statutes, laws, rules and regulations in response to inquiries; conduct necessary research and follow-through; route inquiries appropriately for more complex matters and interpretation issues.
    • Receive and process court orders pertaining to sealing records.
    • Ensure records meet required retention; interpret County/department polices, as well as applicable statutes, laws, rules and regulations to determine retention schedules; organize and process records for destruction that have met retention.
    • Data Entry
    • Provide general administrative support for the program or department
    • Receives immediate supervision from management, professional, or administrative supervisor.



    • High School diploma or GED required, supplemented by additional office administration coursework.
    • Two years of experience in a directly related clerical  field, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.

    This is a divisional posting for the Department Specialist I job title, with one vacancy starting in January 2020.  This vacancy is subject to the final approval of the Larimer County 2020 Budget.  Should the position not be funded in 2020, we will not fill this position.  From this posting, we will also create an eligibility list that will be used as positions within Criminal Justice Services become available. 


    May be subject to on-call/mandatory overtime.


    Assessment testing will be administered.


    An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
