  • Overview

    The Larimer County Finance Department is looking for a limited-term Accountant II. We are looking for a skilled accountant to serve as supplemental accounting support for the Finance department during the implementation of a new financial system. We anticipate needing this position until around June 30, 2021. The person in this limited-term position will provide support by maintaining responsibility for assigned funds and various tasks, including reconciliations, reviewing transactions for accuracy and making adjusting journal entries as needed.  The primary functions for this group are financial reporting, preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures and Financial Awards (SEFA) and overseeing the management of the County’s capital assets.

     

    We anticipate that this position will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with the potential to work 40 hours per week.

    Skills/Experience Needed

    • Ability to reconcile accounting transactions, balance sheet activity and prepare adjusting journal entries as necessary
    • Ability to read, interpret and apply generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards and federal and state grant reporting requirements, including Uniform Grant Guidance
    • Maintains accounting files by reviewing and analyzing a verity of accounting transactions for accuracy and propriety
    • Ability to work well with others
    • Assist in preparation of financial statements
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparing letters and reports for various audiences
    • An intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the use of basic formulas

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
    • Three years of relevant experience 

     

    An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
