    As a part of the LCEWD, the Economic Development Specialist will provide professional and technical expertise related to Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E). This position is responsible for supporting and coordinating the Northern Colorado BR&E Partnership; connecting businesses to needed services and resources throughout Larimer County and Colorado; supporting the economic vitality of Larimer County through meaningful relationships with the private sector; and serving as a resource to other County staff, outside agencies and the general public by providing information and assistance, and by solving problems.

    • Meet with local businesses to identify needs and make referrals to resources and services that meet those needs. 
    • Build working relationships with other Larimer County departments, municipal departments and other organizations that serve the business community.  
    • Document BR&E activities in customer relationship management systems. 
    • Convene and serve as an administrative leader for the Northern Colorado BR&E Partnership.
    • Support the development and implementation of activities that help the Northern Colorado BR&E Partnership understand the needs of regional businesses. 
    • Manage and track BR&E activities and data collection across multiple economic development partners. 
    • Assist the Northern Colorado BR&E Partnership in the creation and distribution of reports and information that increase public understanding of businesses’ needs.
    • Inventory and analyze existing physical, social, and economic conditions and resources in Northern Colorado.
    • Support the creation of reports and plans related to BR&E activities.
    • Obtain, interpret, and relay economic and other labor market information to internal and external parties. 

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of economic development concepts and strategies; business retention and expansion practices; business, market, and economic indicators and trends.
    • Skilled at building and managing complex relationships with diverse individuals, organizations, and stakeholders. 
    • Perform duties independently without close supervision.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills. 
    • Ability to adapt to process changes and manage ambiguous situations.
    • Skilled in providing excellent customer service.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Skilled at record keeping and records management.
    • Above average knowledge of routine software and business applications, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Google programs (G-Mail, Google Calendars, Google Docs).
    • Experience in a directly related field or performance of similar duties and responsibilities.
    • Education from an accredited college or university or a combination of equivalent relevant demonstrated experience and education.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
    • Working knowledge of economic incentive and financing methods.
    • General understanding of planning, zoning, project approval, and permitting processes.
    • Experience with project management principles and practices.
    • Basic understanding of County government and functions of the various departments in County government. 
    • Understand the operating characteristics of Geographic Information Systems.
    • Working knowledge of general marketing concepts and principles related to economic development.
