    Larimer County Community Corrections is looking for a skilled Correctional Case Specialist to join our dynamic team of professionals. The Correctional Case Specialist will be tasked to perform professional and technical counseling/therapy and/or case management related work in the implementation of a residential and outpatient addictions, mental health and criminogenic treatment programming.  This position will be hired at either a level I or II depending on qualifications and experience.

    This position provides basic needs case management for Alternatives to Incarceration for Individuals with Mental Health Needs (AIIM) and Wellness Court programs. The programs are collaborative programs that provide probation level supervision for clients who have a severe and persistent mental illness.  The AIIM office provides a one stop shop for basic needs case management, individual and group therapy, basic needs case management, and medication monitoring for clients who are in either AIIM or Wellness Court.  The AIIM and Wellness Court Programs work from an interdisciplinary team model to provide supervision and treatment.

    In addition to the Correctional Case Specialist Description, specific tasks for this role may include:

    • Transportation of clients to appointments and activities both individually and in groups
    • Facilitation/Teaching of courses to clients
    • Crisis intervention
    • Administration of medications following QMAP standards
    • Outreach on behalf of clients to connect them to community resources
    • Conduct outreach to clients to engage them in programming
    • Development and Implementation of transition/continuing care

    We are seeking applicants with:

    • Understanding of significant mental illness and substance use disorders
    • Understanding of the methods, practices, and interventions associated with 
      criminogenic risks and needs, mental illness, and substance use disorders
    • Ability to work with both male and female populations
    • Understanding of trauma informed intervention.



    • Three years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.
    • Treatment positions: three years of experience with the mentally ill and substance using individuals within the criminal justice system.
    • Possession of or ability to obtain, Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
    • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field.
    • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
