Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is seeking a skilled and talented individual to join our team.  


Specifics about this position:

  • The Seasonal Trail Crew Worker is a hard working, fun, and extremely rewarding position centered on maintaining and building sustainable multi-use natural surface trails.
  • A typical day requires hiking multiple miles on trails carrying tools, supplies, and personal gear while at the same time performing skilled maintenance/construction tasks.
  • Lead and guide volunteer groups in proper trail maintenance and construction tasks. Work occasional Saturdays with volunteer groups.
  • Work out-of-doors in all weather conditions, as required, performing heavy and physical labor in assigned trail maintenance and construction duties for extended periods of time.
  • Previous knowledge-of or strong desire to learn the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in sustainable trail maintenance and construction.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License

Other Information to Note:

    • Full Time- up to 40 hours/week for 6 months or less between Mid March- Mid October (weather permitting) Hiring will begin in March and continue throughout the summer.
    • Part Time -up to 29 hours/week for 9 months or less
  • This is a temporary position.  Occasional weekend hours may be required.  Work schedules are subject to change depending on weather.
  • This position is "Open until filled" and may close at any time.  Once we begin an interview process, we may not consider additional applicants unless a candidate is not hired from the interview pool.

  • This position will be based out of our South Bay location at Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, CO.
  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background test. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
