Overview

Larimer County is looking for Electrical Inspectors to join the Community Development Team.   An Electrical Inspector inspects electrical systems in buildings and structures during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable code and regulations of county, state, and federal agencies.  Specifically, this position: 

  • Inspects residential, commercial, agricultural and other buildings and structures during construction for compliance with approved plans, the National Electrical Code and related ordinances.
  • Reads and interprets construction plans to determine that construction is in compliance with the approved plans and the electrical code.
  • Reviews submitted plans and specifications for compliance with adopted codes.
  • Confers with owners, contractors, architects, and engineers; explains and interprets requirements and restrictions of the electrical codes.
  • Maintains computer records of field inspections and testify in court as needed in disputes related to permits and inspections.

Details

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a journey-level electrician or higher required.
  • Possession of current Colorado license as a Journeyman or Master Electrician required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
  • Possession of additional ICC certifications preferred.

  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
