Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is seeking a skilled and talented individual to join our team as a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker Fort Collins Area and Loveland Area for full and part time availability.  We are looking for a knowledgeable and friendly personnel to assist with our mission.


Specifically this position:

  • Performs general upkeep and cleaning of campgrounds and park facilities
  • Performs landscape maintenance including mowing, watering, pruning, and weed control
  • Operates a variety of light equipment including mowers and chainsaws; performs preventative maintenance of tools and equipment used in parks grounds maintenance including mowers, weed eaters, hand tools, etc
  • Advises park users of recreational opportunities and park regulations
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job

This position is located in  either Loveland (in the Carter Lake area) or Fort Collins (in the Horsetooth area).  Position availability is as follows:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
Hazards associated with the work and proper safety precautions.

  • Stand and walk for long periods of time and walk long distances over rough terrain
  • Push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Operate mowers and string trimmers.
  • Use and maintain groundskeeping equipment, mowers, and string trimmers
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Greet a very wide variety of park visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and helpful manner, and communicate effectively with a wide diversity of individuals and groups
  • Use and maintain groundskeeping equipment, mowers, and string trimmers
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience operating landscaping equipment required and driving a truck with trailer. (Riding mowers and weed whippers)
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License required
  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand / kneel and walk for long periods of time over all forms of terrain.
  • Push, pull and lift heavy objects.
  • Work out doors in all type of weather conditions and/or under varying degrees of stress for extended periods.
