Overview

 

Larimer County's Fleet Services Department is looking for a Preventative Maintenance Specialist. The Preventative Maintenance Specialist provides preventative maintenance and inspections on a variety of equipment, vehicles and tools in a service truck. Each day will be different. This position will be instrumental in making sure our fleet is running safely and efficiently.

Details

Specifically, the Preventative Maintenance Specialist:

  • Performs preventative maintenance work on automobiles, pickups, heavy trucks, and construction equipment located at each job site.
  • Coordinates with the Parts Technician for all supplies, lubricants, fuels, coolants, and other similar products.
  • Removes and replaces a variety of equipment parts.
  • Performs minor mechanical work on equipment; assists other automotive and heavy equipment maintenance technicians with mechanical repair work.
  • Attends new equipment training sessions sponsored by company representatives.
  • Makes initial inspections and assessments of automobiles, pickups, heavy trucks, and construction equipment; informs the appropriate Shop Foreman or Fleet Operations Manager of repair work needed.
  • Assists in the development of preventative maintenance procedures for all automobiles, pickups, heavy trucks, and construction equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
  • High School diploma or GED required, supplemented by specialized training in the maintenance of light and/or heavy equipment required.
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a Colorado Class "B" CDL with Tanker and Hazardous Material endorsements required.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months, at least two (2) Automotive Institute of Excellence (ASE) certification in Preventative Maintenance or Heavy Truck required.
  • Some DOT and construction equipment (tandem dump trucks, loaders, rollers, trailers) experience preferred.

As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
