Overview

This position is ideal for individuals looking to get started in the Criminal Justice field.   Successful candidates will work with Larimer County’s Community Corrections Department, an agency that works to reintegrate felony offenders into the local community, Alternative Sentencing's Pretrial Unit, an agency that supervises and monitors people before they are sentenced with the Courts or Alternative Sentencing's Work Release, a residential program that allows offender sentenced to County Jail time to serve ordered days while working or attending school.

Details

Tasks in this role vary based upon assignment and workers may be placed in an opening in one of several units including: Pretrial, Day Reporting Center, Transportation, LCCC Residential, or Work Release.  Work in any of these units would give direct experience working with offenders in a criminal justice setting.  Work tasks could include assisting with drug/alcohol screening, providing emergency and/or court transportation services, or various tasks to support each unit.  If you are looking for entry-level experience in a fast-paced environment that will offer opportunities for growth within the criminal justice field, this opportunity is for you.  This is an opportunity with various schedules available.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Preferred (but not required) Qualifications:

  • Three months experience in a correctional setting
  • English/Spanish bilingual 

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.

These are 24/7 residential facilities. Successful applicants must be able to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts. Must be able to work holidays.
